Southbank Tennis Club’s Bright Future

by
26th September 2016

2016 is a momentous year for Southbank LTC!  In May the historic tennis club celebrated its 120th anniversary and more recently achieved a longstanding ambition with the installation of floodlights on its two main courts.

This family orientated club is situated on Holy Trinity Sports Ground, The Rookery, Roe Lane and has LTA Tennismark accreditation.  Leicester company Exclusive Leisure, specialists in the installation of floodlighting systems approved by the LTA, was chosen by Southbank to plan and install the floodlights and have done a magnificent job. The finished result looks fantastic and members are already enjoying the benefits of extended playing hours and floodlit coaching!

These are exciting times for Southbank LTC and to celebrate this significant improvement to the club’s facilities, a ‘Grand Switch On’ Event is being held on Saturday 1st October, starting at 5pm.  The evening includes free tennis for all ages, a fun tournament and an opportunity to sign up for the club’s inaugural Floodlit Winter League. There will be drinks and refreshments, the presentation of trophies to the winners of the club’s 2016 tournament and a countdown to the ‘Grand Switch On’ at 7pm, followed by floodlit tennis.

If you are interested in joining Southbank LTC and would like to see the club’s facilities and try out the new floodlights, you are invited to come along to the celebrations on Saturday 1st October.  It promises to be a great evening of tennis, fun, chat and refreshments! The club welcomes members of all ages and playing abilities, has 5 artificial grass courts, three teams in the Southport & District League, a well-established Junior and Adult coaching programme run by an LTA qualified coach and popular social events throughout the year.
