The devastating news was announced by Willie only months after the former Strictly Come Dancing star had the all clear. Prior to that he ran up £1million gambling debts, sparking a suicide attempt and leading to him declaring himself bankrupt. But Willie, whose distinctive voice was heard by millions of snooker fans during commentary on the BBC’s recent coverage of the World Championship, is upbeat about his chances. Whatever the outcome, Willie says he will carry on working during his treatment. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 40,000 new cases diagnosed every year.
