Silcocks celebrate 30 years at Funland Southport FREE rides for kids Thursday 12th September

Thirty years ago on 12th September in 1983 the Silcock family purchased the Southport Leisure Centre, on the resort’s Pier Forecourt, from the First Leisure Group which then incorporated the “Follies” nightclub, famous for its Thursday Rock Nights with Disc Jockey – Darryll Jay.

The Silcock family recognised the changes that were taking place within the tourism industry, and that was when, using their wide experience they invested in converting the building into Funland. An attraction that has proved very popular and is open 364 days a year.
Now known as the Silcock Leisure Group, Silcocks are one of the largest employers in Southport, and have extended their business into Blackpool.

To commemorate the history of Funland, Silcock Leisure Group have presented one of the original Follies mirrors – suitably framed to Trina Davies. Trina provided the entertainment at the opening of the nightclub in November 1979.

The Silcock family along with Silcock Leisure Group are committed to Southport’s Tourism Industry, and take every opportunity to consider future development of Funland and its other attractions within the resort.
