Sign us out demand angry motorists

Angry motorists on a Southport estate have sent the message to road contractors: “Please help us get out of here.”

Drivers in Parklands have found their exits blocked due to the removal of a sign and the failure of contractors to replace it.

The Keep Clear sign on Roe Lane – the only means of access for traffic from Parklands estate onto Roe Lane – was removed during road re-surfacing and weeks later it’s still missing, resulting in chaos for drivers.

“I’ve contacted Sefton Council on a regular basis but the blame lies with the contractors.” said Cambridge Road councillor Pat Keith: “ Every time I have asked for a deadline the contractors have given a litany of excuses to cover the delay.

“So I was delighted to receive a phone call from the council to say the work was finally completed.  But when Councillor McGuire and I made an on-site check we were astounded to discover that they had painted the sign on the left side of the carriageway and left out the crucial road sign for the estate users on the right.

“ I have once again been assured the contractors will return swiftly to paint the Keep Clear sign on the right of the carriageway. For the sake of the residents I hope these words are turned into action.”
