Shaun Whalley and Andy Parry leave Southport FC May 1st, 2013 ontheball Latest News Latest Sports Shares Comments Player of the Year Shaun Whalley has left Southport to join Conference rivals Luton Town today. 25 yard old Whalley has signed for Luton for an undisclosed fee along with defender Andy Parry. Whalley was Southport’s star player last season and finished as top scorer with 10 goals. He joined the Sandgrounders in January 2011 after a short spell with the club in 2009. Parry has spent a season and a half at Haig Avenue after joining from lower league Radcliffe Borough. Southport chairman Charlie Clapham said “This deal was put in place by Liam Watson and it is a great move all round. Shaun has earned the chance to move forward, and though we don’t really want to sell players to face us, Luton Town are not a typical Football Conference club. Andy Parry has taken John Stills eye and the two lads will link up at Luton as they settle in. They have served Southport well, with Shaun in particular starring on most occasions last season. We wish them both great success in their future football careers.” Southport are still waiting to name their new manager for next season after the resignation of Liam Watson.
