Serious Assault Ormskirk on ‘Mad Friday’

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Ormskirk town centre following one of the busiest nights of the year; known locally as ‘Mad Friday’.

Around 2am on Saturday 21 December, a 48 year old local man was confronted by three men on the car park behind A&B Cabs on Moorgate.

He was punched to the ground and his head stamped on before the offenders made off towards Aughton Street.

The three offenders are described as white males aged early twenties all with short dark hair. One is said to have been wearing a blue top, white shirt and black trousers, another was wearing a blue top, navy jeans and training shoes, and the third was wearing dark clothing

The victim was taken to Southport Hospital where he was treated for a fractured jaw; he has also been left with blurred vision.

PC Martin Sullivan said: “This was a vicious and brutal attack and I would urge anyone with any information to come forward

“At the time of the assault, a queue of potential witnesses had formed at the taxi rank. The victim was assisted by members of the public as he lay unconscious on the ground. I am appealing to anyone with information relating to this incident to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log reference LC-20131221-0224”.
