Sefton sink another part of Southport

Council contractors are known to take their time with getting the job done – but one task has taken them an astonishing 20 years to do.

And it’s still not even finished!

A sign on the boating sheds in Botanic Gardens boasts that they are currently being redeveloped ahead of a glorious reopening for tourists to come and enjoy a leisurely boat ride down the Botanic Gardens lake.

However unless your boat just also happens to be a time machine, you’ll find yourself in a bit of a tricky position.

The sign was actually placed around the Gardens in 1997 and expectant amateur sailors have had twenty years of disappointment, waiting and eventual acceptance that the project will probably never be finished.

Yet another wonderful piece of Southport is sunk by Sefton.
