Sefton Council has been awarded £250,000 from Sport England to provide opportunities for adults in South Sefton to get more active.

An action-packed launch event is taking place in Bootle on Thursday, September 11 from 11am-2pm and members of the public are invited to come down and join in the fun.

The event, on Stanley Road, will see the area outside the Strand Shopping Centre transformed with a mobile climbing wall and other activities to help launch ‘Everybody Active.’

The new project will see a range of sessions, including rounders, back to netball, instructor-led outdoor gym sessions, sailing classes and family canoeing.

Rachel Treanor, Everybody Active programme co-ordinator, said: “Everybody Active is a great opportunity for everyone across South Sefton to get more active and try something new.

“The sessions are all local and at a variety of times so there is something for everyone.”

Everybody Active sessions will start at the end of the month and anyone interesting in taking part can sign up at the launch event or by calling 0151 934 2355.
