Healthwatch Sefton Chair Maureen Kelly said “We’re delighted that these local practices have listened to patients and are pleased with the valuable comments included in our reports”. One of the practices involved in this work was Norwood Surgery in Southport. “We would like to thank Norwood Surgery for their encouraging responses to this piece of work. We look forward to working with GP practices across Sefton in the future and gathering experiences from local people”. In addition to identifying areas for improvement, Healthwatch Sefton also highlight areas of good practice and commitment to patient care. The GP practices involved received both positive feedback from Sefton residents as well as comments on where patient care could be improved. “We plan to address the areas for development following the experience report” said Practice Manager Rachel Pinedo. “We are in the process of trialling a new telephone system and moving towards using online bookings for appointments”. “Norwood Surgery will soon have three full time equivalent GP registrars. This will inevitably mean that we have extra appointments to meet the growing demand”. One of the main aims of Healthwatch Sefton is to ensure the views of patients and general public are heard and they work across all areas of health and social care including hospitals, care homes, GPs and pharmacies.
