Sefton Council Social Services 50% Cut Back on Respite Vouchers October 15th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Sefton Council Social Services 50% Cut Back on Respite Vouchers Sefton Council Social Services Department are cutting back on respite vouchers by 50% They are currently informing family members whose elderly parent’s use ‘Chase Heys Resoursce Centre’ in Churchtown, Southport that their annual vouchers have reduced from 28 to 14. Information on Chase Heys resource centre Chase Heys is a purpose built Sefton Council Resource Centre for elderly people which was opened in 1984. They specialize in offering short term respite care, having sixteen single rooms and two double rooms (by request only), for periods which vary from one night to several weeks. People using this service may live on their own, live with a carer or be discharged here from hospital prior to returning home. Personal care can be provided by trained and experienced staff, such as assistance with dressing/undressing, washing/bathing and mobility. Nursing care, however, cannot be provided at Chase Heys and do not offer permanent residential care. Intermediate care is a new service that we started to provide in December 2001. It is a service for older people who may benefit from a period of rehabilitation, possibly following a fall, illness or a period in hospital. Chase Heys aim is to enable a person to improve their mobility and regain daily living skills so they can return home as soon as possible. They can provide accommodation for ten intermediate care service users. A Day Care Service is also offered for up to eighteen people Monday to Friday. Transport is provided for service users and various handicrafts and activities take place throughout the day. A senior member of staff is always on duty and available to discuss in private any questions you may have about Chase Heys. Chase Heys are situated in a quiet cul-de-sac off Bibby Road in the Churchtown area of Southport. It is close to all the local amenities in Churchtown such as shops, banks, library, health centre and the Botanic gardens. A local bus service is also available nearby to the town centre.
