Sefton Council launch walking football sessions for over 50s September 14th, 2015 COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR Latest News Latest Sports Shares Comments Sefton Council are aiming to get over 50s back into sport with the launch of walking football. In partnership with Active Soccer Maghull and the Friends of Alexandra & Coronation Parks the free sessions are held every Friday, 1pm to 2pm. Walking football, in a nutshell, is a slower version of the game. The rules are the same but all players walk and it is a non-contact sport, meaning no potential injuries. The free over 50s sessions start on September 25 at Coronation Park, Crosby. A statement from Sefton Council said: “So if you see yourself as a Bob Latchford or a Jimmy Case and fancy getting back into the game you loved or even if you just want to get more active, come down and find out if Walking Football is for you.” Free refreshments will be provided in the park pavilion after the session.
