Rubbish and recycling collection times in Southport over Christmas & New Year

23rd December 2015

Stickers showing Christmas and New Year collection dates have also be placed on wheelie bins at any properties which are affected.

Similar to other years, the green wheelie bin collection for garden waste is now suspended until March 2016.

Only collections scheduled for Friday 25th December  and Friday 1st January will be affected. All other collections will take place as normal.

Cllr John Fairclough, Cabinet Member Locality Services, said: “Look out for the stickers being placed on wheelie bins on Friday collections as they hold very important information about refuse and recycling collections over Christmas and New Year.

“Some refuse and recycling collections will alter slightly over the Christmas and New year period so please spend some time making sure you are aware of your collection dates.

“During and after the Christmas period we all tend to generate extra waste yet so much of this can be recycled. As ever please think about recycling more rather than just putting it in the grey bin and make your Christmas an even greener one.”

The recycling green box and food waste collections will follow the Christmas arrangements and residents are reminded to put their recycling and waste out by 6.30am on their collection day.

Recycling and waste collections will be back to normal from the week commencing January 4, 2016.
