Roy, 34, successfully completed the famous Great North Run on Sunday in a time of 2 hours, 37 minutes and 28 seconds.  He finished 30922 places behind double Olympic champion Mo Farah who beat his course record in this years half marathon winning by two seconds in 59 minutes 22 seconds.  50,000 runner’s took part on Sunday in temperatures of over 18 degrees Celsius.  Bev, 40, managed to beat Roy to the finish line in her 3rd Great North Run in a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 22 seconds.

Roy and his fiancée Bev have raised £575 for the Alzheimer’s Society so far and would like thank everyone who has supported them so far.  “the Great North Run was an amazing experience and up there with one of our best achievements.  13.1 miles is a long way and the course is challenging from start to finish especially in the heat.  The support of all the thousands of spectators lining the streets and our family and friends who have sponsored us made the run that little bit easier.  We are both extremely pleased to have raised so much for the Alzheimers society so thank you to each and every one of you.”
