Each year, The Rotary Club of Southport Links treat residents of two homes in Southport to a morning at the Southport Flower Show.

This year was no exception, and at 10.00am, as the gates were opened to the public,  a group of 18 residents from Alexandra House and Ellerslie Court, along with members of staff and volunteers from the Southport Links Rotary entered a blustery Victoria Park to see what this years show had to offer.

A look around the superb show gardens started the morning off – we were all very impressed by the amount of work the exhibitors put in to building their gardens, a listen to the guitarist, followed by a look at the air raid shelter brought back memories to the visitors, who all lived through WW2 – one of them having been born in 2012 having lived through both wars!

Time for tea and a cake then a look round the floral marquees. The salsa dancers brought a smile to all our faces, but all too soon it was time for home.

Fortunately, the rain held off until they were all back at their homes in time for lunch.

A very enjoyable morning for the residents and the volunteer wheelchair pushers!
