Rob Newbiggin’s second Red Rum Painting

This is the second Rob Newbiggin Red Rum Painting, with Champion Jockey, Tommy Stack, now being put forward for the inclusion as a painted tribute to Red Rum 3 times Grand National Winner, and Southport trained championship Racehorse.   The painting is set in the period pre 1995 with the old Southport pier, the Lifeguard dukw and the Shrimper Horse and Cart in the distance which Ginger McCain noticed had healthy hooves benefited by the salt water, hence Red Rum was then regularly seen training on Southport Sands.   Rob is painting this new one at Dobbies Garden World in Benthams way,Southport and can be seen daily creating it

Orders for Limited Edition prints, of this yet to be finished painting, are soaring daily, and now there is interest in this painting going to Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire amongst Royalty, such is Red Rums popularity and endearment.

However Rob said that this painting couldn’t possibly go anywhere except Southport, as that’s the whole idea of doing this tribute for Southport and Red Rums history is here in Southport and that’s where it should stay.   Since Rob appeared on the BBC with the proposal for a tribute, the proposal for a statue is getting nearer to reality, and hopefully Rob may get the opportunity to be painting the statue in full colour, and realism, and give Southport a very unique statue and tribute to be admired for many years to come.
