Motorist are warned of possible delays in Southport next month when Sefton Council will be carrying out an inspection of Marine Way bridge.

In order to carry out the work, a section of Marine Parade will be closed from Tuesday 1 September for up to two weeks.

Marine Parade will be closed to traffic and pedestrians between the Promenade and the roundabout by McDonald’s. Traffic will be diverted via the Promenade, Fairway and Marine Drive in both directions. Pedestrians will be able to use Southport Pier to cross Marine Lake.

Access for emergency services will be maintained wherever possible.

The works will be suspended on 12/13 September for the annual 24 hour yacht race.
