Local company Right at Home yesterday beat household names and the biggest brand names in the Franchise sector to win the highly prestigious Best Franchise Award.

The homecare provider, which delivers high quality support services to vulnerable adults across the UK, scooped the high investment category award at a presentation in London.

In a David and Goliath-style competition, Right at Home with over 40 UK offices saw off fierce competition from fellow finalist and multinational giant McDonalds, which has more than 600 UK franchises.

Managing Director, Ken Deary, said: “This is a huge achievement, which would not have been possible without our fantastic network of local Right at Home business owners and the amazing support team that we now have at Head Office. It was thanks to our Franchisees’ positive feedback on the quality of our Franchise systems and business support that we were recognised as finalists for the third year running, and we’re thrilled to have now won the overall award, which is one of the biggest accolades in the Franchise sector.”

Sponsored by RBS, the Best Franchise Awards are linked to the results of a nationwide independent franchisee satisfaction survey. Franchisees rate the training, support and stewardship they receive from their Franchisor and report on their levels of satisfaction, with brands who achieve an overall score of 90% or more receiving a ‘Five Star Franchise’ status, and the highest three scores qualifying for the award finals.

Right at Home, began franchising in the UK in late 2011, led by Ken Deary, who previously owned McDonalds Franchises in Southport & Ormskirk and was recognised as one of their most successful Franchisees, winning the internationally-coveted Golden Arches award.

Whilst looking for an opportunity to start up and build a national business, Deary was quick to identify an emerging market for quality homecare services, generated by an ageing population who want to continue living in their own homes for as long as possible.

After testing the potential for a self-funded quality homecare model, he launched Right at Home in the UK and began offering Franchise opportunities that allow local business owners to deliver highly-personalised care and support services that focus upon the guiding principles of dignity, respect, and choice.

Deary said: “We have built a franchise system that prioritises our local owners’ success by providing them with the best possible support in all areas of their business. From our selective and measured growth strategy, to the tailored expertise and systems that we offer to help our owners establish and grow their businesses, we are dedicated to building a UK wide brand that is synonymous with quality. Winning this accolade underlines our commitment to quality ethical franchising and homecare.”
