Sefton residents who want to mark the new year by getting a new job are being invited to a special employment day in Southport early next month.

The Jobs Roadshow is being held at Southport Community Centre on Norwood Road in the town between 10am and 1pm on Thursday 2nd February.

The event is being organised by Adactus Housing Association in partnership with the centre which is run by Sefton CVS, the Brighter Living Partnership and St Simon and St Jude with All Souls Church.

As well as information on jobs and apprenticeships currently available in the area, the event will feature advice on completing applications, writing a CV and how to handle interviews.

Staff will also be on hand to provide information on adult learning and volunteering opportunities, which could help people to acquire valuable skills and experience which will put them in a better position to find work in the future.

Organisers say that everyone is welcome to attend the event, including parents with children as special free activities will be provided for younger visitors.

Catherine Lowe, Enterprise and Funding Officer with Adactus Housing, commented: “Our aim has been to gather a wide range of job and training-related information and advice under one roof for this event.

“We’re inviting people to come along to the roadshow at any time for a coffee, a friendly chat and to obtain the help and support they need to improve their job prospects for 2017.”

Southport Community Centre Manager, Philip Blocksidge, added: “We’re always on the lookout to expand our range of services so we’re delighted to be working with Adactus on this event.

“We’re hoping for a very good turnout at the roadshow which will also give people a good chance to learn more about the other facilities on offer here at the centre.”

Southport Community Centre is located near to the junction of Norwood Road and Sussex Road/Peel Street.
