REPORT Southport 0 Hyde 1 December 29th, 2012 ontheball Latest News Latest Sports Shares Comments A goal by Adam Griffin on 21 minutes sent Southport FC crashing to a home defeat at the hands of mid table Hyde. The result leaves Sandgrounders in 18th place and two points above the Relegation Zone after a lot of matches in the Blue Square Premier League were postponed. Southport started the match well and they had a long range shot from midfielder Godfrey Poku that was saved by Hyde keeper David Carnell. The only goal came when Ryan Crowther played a shot corner to Griffin and he whipped the ball in to the top corner of Tony McMillan’s net. Sandgrounders came out for the second half fighting and they nearly equalised when Chris Lynch missed a free-kick from Karl Ledsham. Hyde had a great chance to double their lead when Crowther was played through on goal but he shot at keeper McMillan. Southport piled on the pressure in the closing stages and substitute Michael Bakare had a shot saved by Carnell. Then Bakare played a pass in to Ledsham but he fired the ball wide.
