Acknowledged as one of the best premier aerobatic teams, the Red Arrows will appear on Saturday, September 14 – the opening day of the annual Air Show. Now in its 22nd year, the Southport Air Show consists of two days of packed entertainment for the entire family and runs from September 14/15. Each year the flying programme showcases fast jets, military and historical aircraft, daring aerobatics and much more on firmer terrain. In between displays, visitors can attempt a climbing wall or an assault course, or experience the next best thing to flying a fast jet in one of the many flight simulators in the Air Show Village. There are many military vehicles and aircraft you can get up close to at the Air Show Village, plus the Aviation Marquee with many interesting artefacts including Northern Brickworks with their brilliant Lego displays. Cllr Ian Maher, Cabinet Member Regeneration and Tourism, said: “The Air Show really is a great spectacle and yet again it is fabulous news the Red Arrows have been confirmed for what promises to be another amazing weekend in Southport. “Gates open at 9am on the day with light aircraft and microlights landing on the beach right before your eyes. The Air Show Village and all the attractions will be open from 9am, plus once you are on site and have your wristband you can come and go as you please to have a wonder around Southport. “The Southport Air Show is an extremely busy event and we do advise people to book as early as possible.” Tickets are only £7 if booked in advance with children under 5 free.
