Police have renewed their appeal for information after a woman said she was raped in Southport’s King’s Gardens.

Officers were initially called to Talbot Street after reports that a woman was laying in the road in a ‘distressed state.’ The woman told the police she had met her attacker for the first time earlier in the night at a Southport pub. She said he raped her in the King’s Gardens area and then ran off towards the Promenade.

Anyone who was in the area between 9pm and 10pm last night or who has any other information that could help the police investigation is asked to call the Unity team on 0151 777 1382 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
