Southport v Kidderminster

Kidderminster Harriers must defeat Southport this weekend if they intend to remain top of the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Steve Burr’s side moved level on points with Mansfield Town, but with a superior goal difference, following their 2-1 win over Newport County last time out.

The Sandgrounders, meanwhile, head into this game in 16th place some 28 points worse off than their rivals this Saturday. They were 2-1 losers to Tamworth in their last encounter.

Harriers goalkeeper Danny Lewis, who was named man-of-the-match for his performance in Wales says his side are taking each game one at a time.

Ahead of this weekend’s match he told the Kidderminster Shuttle: “All you can do is take it a game at a time.

“We are top and we want to enjoy it but we realise there’s still a long way to go and a lot of hard work to come.

“While we’re there we can dream. Someone’s got to win the league, why can’t it be us?”

Burr will give a late fitness test to right-back Lee Vaughan who picked up a minor knock against County.

Southport boss Liam Watson is likely to give the nod in goal to new keeper Ben Smith but striker Andy Owens is a doubt for this clash as he bids to overcome a hamstring strain.
