Post box theft Churchgate Southport

Merseyside Police is appealing for vigilance around Royal Mail post boxes in the Southport area overnight.

A resident reported witnessing a theft from a post box on Churchgate last night, Sunday 10 April 2016.

The witness reported hearing a loud noise from the post box at 11.50pm, a man aged in his early twenties was gathering mail together prior to getting in the passenger side of dark-colored old shape Ford Fiesta.

The car proceeded towards Bibby Road and turned left. The post box appeared to be closed and undamaged this morning indicating that the thieves have a key.

This follows thefts from mail boxes(March) in locations including: High Park Place, Knowsley Road, Chestnut Street and Tithebarn Road.

If anyone has information regarding these crimes please telephone Merseyside Police on 101 or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Residents are advised to be careful posting valuable items and to consider sending such items via a post office.
