Police career opportunities for residents of Lancashire February 18th, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Police career opportunities for residents of Lancashire PEOPLE looking for an exciting and rewarding opportunity are being invited by Lancashire Constabulary to consider a career as a Special Constable. The Force is hosting an event at Greenbank Police Station, Blackburn on Thursday 20 February, aimed at aspiring officers who wish to become involved. There are currently over 400 Specials working and a recruitment drive is now underway to get more volunteers to join the ranks. Special Constables are unpaid volunteer police officers who have the same powers as regular police officers and wear the same uniform. They carry out local patrols, police local events and take part in crime reduction projects, working to cut crime and anti-social behaviour. The event, which will start at 7pm, will give people an opportunity to hear presentations from existing Special Constables and the area’s Specials Co-ordinator Nigel Walker, whilst asking any questions they have about joining the force. Specials Coordinator Nigel Walker said: “This recruitment evening is open to anyone from across the county who is interested in a career in policing with Lancashire Constabulary. “The work for Specials is wide ranging – from general patrol to the policing of serious incidents and large scale events. “Being a Special Constable also offers an insight into working for the force and many decide to go on and pursue a career as a police officer.” If you would like to attend, please contact Nigel Walker at [email protected].
