Merseyside Police has joined forces with Merseytravel, councils, and Stop Hate UK to take a stance against hate crime on the region’s buses and trains.

The Force’s community engagement unit and hate crime investigation teams, Sigma, have pledged to work with Merseytravel’s ‘Travelsafe’ initiative and Stop Hate UK to raise awareness of what constitutes a hate crime and how to report it.

Superintendent Rowley Moore, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Merseytravel who are providing a significant opportunity to raise the awareness of hate crime.

“We deploy dedicated and specially-trained teams of officers to the investigation of hate crimes through our Sigma units and Stop Hate UK provides an innovative, 24/7 reporting service for people so they don’t have to suffer in silence.”

To report a hate crime call Merseyside Police on 101. Alternatively, for help and support, or to report a hate crime without calling the police, call Stop Hate UK on 0800 138 1625 or visit stophateuk.org/talk.
