Police appeal following serious RTC in Ormskirk (near Southport)

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Ormskirk.

The incident took place at 10:15am this morning on Bannister Lane at the junction with Jackson Lane, Ormskirk.

A cyclist and a Kia car have been involved in a collision. The rider of the bike, a local man was air lifted to the Royal Preston Hospital with serious head and spinal injuries

The road was closed for three hours to allow accident investigation to carryout an examination of the scene.

Sergeant Finn Quainton from the Road Policing Unit said, “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact the police.

“An investigation has been launched to establish exactly what happened and we have specially trained officers supporting the family of the man who is poorly in hospital.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the road policing unit on 101.
