Police appeal after Skelmersdale firearm incident

Detectives are appealing for information after reports a gun was fired on a street in Skelmersdale.

Around 1am on April 13, several loud bangs were heard by residents in the Tanfields and Willow Hey areas.

Following investigation and enquiries with neighbours, officers believe several gunshots were discharged.

No-one was injured and no property damaged.

Officers are asking for help in tracing those responsible, including information about a vehicle seen in the area at the time of incident.

Det Con Dominic Webster, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “We are appealing for information after several reports of gunfire being heard in the Skelmersdale area.

“Residents were awoken by loud bangs and while no-one was injured, this is still distressing for the community and we are keen to find those behind this threat.

“We are particularly interested in finding the driver of a Renault Kangoo which was seen in the area at the time of the incident.”
