37-year-old man from the Southport area Killed by train

UPDATE

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to
Hillside railway station, Southport, at around 7.55pm on Tuesday, 10
February, following reports of a person being struck by a train.

Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service also attended, but a
37-year-old man from the Southport area was pronounced dead at the
scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be
prepared for the coroner.”

Cancellations to services between Ainsdale and Hillside Following a person hit by a train earlier between Ainsdale and Hillside the Southport and Hunts Cross line has now reopened.

Person killed by train in Southport

A person has been killed by a train between Hillside &  Ainsdale  Train Station, Southport, according to a Merseyrail spokesperson.

The incident happened at approximately 7:55pm tonight (Tuesday 10th February 2015).

A Merseyrail train was travelling towards Hillside Station when the incident occurred.

BTP and the emergency services are at the scene and an investigation is underway.
