The emergency services were called to Waterloo Road at around 7pm following a 999 call, Sunday 19 July 2015.
A pensioner driving a red Audi TT smashed through the central bollards of the crossing whilst driving north bound towards Southport.
Fortunately no serious injuries were reported. However, the car was not in fit state to drive and was recovered.
