Pensioner has ‘blackout’ – knocks down tree finishing lodged in Asda wall

A pensioner knocked down a tree and ended up lodged in a wall of Southport’s Central 12 Asda store after the driver is believed to have had a blackout at the wheel, Monday 29 February 2016.

The emergency services were called to Derby Road shortly after 3.55pm following a 999 call. The driver, in his 60s, blacked out at the wheel was treated at the scene before being transferred to Southport Hospital – his condition is not thought to be serious.

Eye witnesses on scene say there are no serious injuries.
