Partial Building Collapse in Southport November 6th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Partial Building Collapse in Southport Firefighters led six people to safety following a partial collapse of a building in Southport. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called out to Saunders Street at around 2.30am this morning. Part of the roof and wall of a detached building that was under construction collapsed. Debris from the building collapsed on to the wall and pathway of a neighbouring block of flats. Firefighters evacuated six residents from the neighbouring flats and nobody is believed to have been injured in the incident. Crew Manager Ged Knock, of Southport Fire Community Station, said: “We cleared the debris, cordoned off the area and led the six occupants of the flats to safety.” Two fire appliances from Southport Community Fire Station attended, along with the MF&RS Search and Rescue Team and the Search and Rescue Team dog.
