Events are taking place at parks across the borough as Sefton celebrates the launch of Park Volunteers Week.

For the first time, Sefton Council is launching the scheme which this year runs from June 1-7.

The initiative is being held during ‘National Volunteers Week’ to help promote local volunteers and to encourage others to get involved in Sefton’s parks and greenspaces by working alongside existing groups and partners.

Many groups associated with parks across Sefton have set up different activities for everyone to get involved in during the week. This includes planting sessions, litter picks, painting and children’s activities. (A full list of all the events taking place is attached)

Suzanne McCumiskey, Parks Officer at Sefton Council, said: “Park Volunteers Week is in its first year and we are delighted so many events are taking place across the borough.

“It is an ideal opportunity for existing groups to be seen in the parks with the chance of recruiting further volunteers for the future.

“We have so many wonderful parks and open spaces in Sefton so please see if something is happening near you and try and get involved.”
