‘Oh No!’ – Judging for Southport in Bloom takes place on Orangemen’s Day July 6th, 2016 webteam Latest News Shares Comments ‘Oh No!’ – Judging for Southport in Bloom takes place on Orangemen’s Day Judges will be in Sefton in the coming weeks as part of the prestigious North West In Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions. Judging for Southport in Bloom will be held on 12 July 2016, which is Orangemen’s Day when Southport is invaded by thousands of drunk marchers and supporters who leave a massive amount of mess around the town. They will be at various locations across the borough over four days to see the excellent efforts made by local Steering Groups, volunteers and various community organisations by making Sefton sparkle. The groups, with the help from Sefton Council, have all got involved to enhance many areas across the borough which will be entered into the Neighbourhood categories as part of the annual competition. As well as horticultural achievement, the judges will also be looking at ‘community involvement’ and ‘environmental responsibility’ when making their final decisions. The results for the North West In Bloom will be announced in Autumn at the NWiB Awards. The visiting schedule by the judges is as follows: July 12: Ainsdale in Bloom & Southport in Bloom July 13: Crosby & Waterloo in Bloom July 14: Maghull in Bloom & Melling in Bloom July 15: ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ entries Southport is also a finalist in this year’s Britain in Bloom and they will be gearing up for the judging on August 5.
