North Meols Library Association in consultation for funding to renovate and open the Bowls Pavilion

We are in the middle of a consultation process to support our bids for funding to renovate and open the Bowls Pavilion.

The consultation aims to  engage with as diverse a cross section of people in our catchment area as we can. We need to provide evidence that there is a need for the Community Library.

At the same time we are looking to establish just what the community would want from the library so that we can shape the services appropriately.

If you haven’t already completed our survey please do so.

There are copies of the survey available at Kim’s Tea Rooms on Botanic Road (opposite the Bon Ton) and at Angels of Churchtown on Botanic Road.

The survey can also be completed at   Alternatively contact Elaine on 07721 451158

Obviously our main objective is to create a library but this isn’t our only aim.

Community is really important too. With the closure of Churchtown Library we have lost a key connection point.

Be it an older person who needs a chat, a new arrival in the area who needs to find their way, someone who needs to use the internet or a parents/grandparents wishing to help a child with their learning.

The list is long. The results we are seeing from our survey indicate that many who used Churchtown library no longer use a library at all.

This isn’t because there is not a need for the service. It is because the library is too far from home. For instance, many people just cannot carry the books.

There is nowhere to park close to the Atkinson and some of NMLA’s members have witnessed the distress of people struggling with transporting books. We really need “the library in the park”.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
