New free IT website ‘Southport Code Club’ for students May 21st, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments If you are an ICT teacher, student or parent, or someone considering a career in ICT, check out the Southport Code Club web site (www.southportcodeclub.co.uk). It has lots of free material for holding talks and demonstrations on coding and the wider aspects of ICT. The club has been set up to introduce students to ICT through the use of computer coding. Whereas the majority of code clubs in schools are aimed at 9 to 11 year olds, this material is better suited to older students. No previous knowledge is required as this is aimed at introducing students to ICT. However it is unlikely that students taking the current GCSE syllabus will have seen the material before or been introduced to the wider ICT concepts. All talks, demonstrations, support and material provided by the club are free. It should be noted that the club should also be of interest to students studying Business or Animation, as much of the material is around computer animation and the use of computer systems within business. Robotics and electronics are also covered and demonstrated using the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Any school who would like to hold one or more ICT evenings using the material covered on the site or any other ICT related subject please complete the form on the site.
