NAVY LAUNCHES RESERVES RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN IN MERSEYSIDE August 23rd, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments NAVY LAUNCHES RESERVES RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN IN MERSEYSIDE A new campaign is being launched in Merseyside on Tuesday 27 August to encourage more people to become reservists in the Royal Navy. A series of Royal Naval Reserve Live recruitment days are being held at HMS Eaglet in Liverpool, with the aim of signing up around 150 new recruits in the county over the next three years. People attending the recruitment days will have the opportunity to find out more about life in the navy by meeting serving reservists and taking part in physical and mental challenges. They will also be able to watch demonstrations on weapons handling, fire fighting and chemical defence. Journalists are being invited to visit HMS Eaglet in Liverpool ahead of the first Royal Naval Reserve Live event, which is taking place on Saturday 31 August. You will have the opportunity to meet and interview serving reservists, take a tour of the base and see some of the equipment used at sea. Location: HMS Eaglet, East Brunswick Dock, Sefton Road, Liverpool, L3 4DZ Date: Tuesday 27 August Time: 3pm More than 2,300 men and women currently serve as reservists in the Royal Navy alongside their normal day job. Most have no previous military experience. When needed, the Royal Naval Reserve supplements the full-time ranks with extra manpower, and in some cases provides additional specialist civilian skills. New recruits must be aged between 16 and 40, have an appropriate standard in English and Maths, and be able to complete a one-and-a-half-mile run within a set time.
