A power failure at the Eco Centre substation is thought to be reason for shops on Lord Street, Eastbank Street and in Cambridge arcade to be left without power, Friday February 12 2016
People at the Cambridge arcade benefits office were turned away as Council computer systems are down.
The national grid is working on the problem but power is not expected to be restored until 5pm.
This is most worrying for a number jewelers who have been left without CCTV and electrically powered locking devices.
