Mourinho heads to Southport to learn Rostov lessons

11th March 2017

Manchester United are preparing for their second leg Europa League clash against FC Rostov – by finding out about the last team to face the Russians.

Sunday league side High Park FC are the last and only other English club to play FC Rostov, nearly fifty years ago.

In 1968 during the cold war, a hearty side from High Park FC flew behind the iron curtain to take on FC Rostov thanks to their manager’s business connections their.

Sadly unlike Jose Mourinho’s side who drew 1-1 last week, High Park FC lost their game.

Rostov are currently 7th in the Russian Premier League, based in a town called Rostov-on-Don which is approximately 1000 km south of Moscow and the club was founded in 1930.
