Update: Missing 12-year-old Rachel McDonald found safe and well

A missing 12-year-old girl was found safe and well in the Merseyside area this afternoon.

Rachel Mcdonald, from Wrighington, was last seen on Friday evening at 8pm at Wigan roller skating rink on Swan Meadow Road.

The alarm was raised when she failed to return home from the outing.

Rachel had a pair of roller skates with her and was last seen wearing a yellow Lacoste polo shirt, black skinny jeans, black and purple baseball cap.

Police said that Rachel, who speaks with a Liverpool accent, has links to Wigan, Preston, Liverpool and North Wales and is known to use public transport.

Officers from Lancashire Police tweeted earlier toady that Rachel had been found safe and well and thanked everyone for their help.

Officers are appealing for information about a 12 year old girl who has gone missing from home in Preston. Rachel McDonald was last seen at around 8pm last night, Friday 13 February, at Wigan roller skating rink on Swan Meadow Road, but failed to return home to Appley Bridge. She is described as white, around 5ft 4 tall, of a medium build with straight cropped black hair, has a pale complexion, brown eyes and speaks with a Liverpool accent. She was last seen wearing a yellow Lacoste polo shirt, black skinny jeans, black and purple baseball cap and blue or black coloured trainers. She also had with her a pair of roller skates. Rachel is known to have links to Wigan, Preston, Liverpool and North Wales and is known to use public transport. PC John Wiggans of Preston Police said: “Rachel is only 12 years old and we are growing increasingly concerned about her whereabouts. I would urge anyone who has seen her or knows where she may be to get in touch. Similarly Rachel if you see this appeal let us know you are safe and well.” Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number 1283 of February 13th.
