Merseyside Tories: Latest charitable question to the poor disabled and unfortunate

“Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?”

Preston Tory hopeful Moore and the Wirral’s “Scrooge of the Year” MP on the campaign trail together…

The usual idea is to grab a bit of extra kudos, via canvassing out of town and then perhaps invite the McVey team back into Southport to return the favour. Hence, Southport families may soon have this Wirral/Southport (or should I say, Preston?) team knocking at their doors for support!

‘Benefit crusher’, Esther McVey, Conservative MP for Wirral West and Damien Moore (wannabe Tory MP for Southport) out canvassing together – somewhere in Merseyside

However, Moore’s self-promotional political back-patting notions may ‘not’ have the desired effect! Let’s find out why!

Last December trade unionists in Merseyside awarded the area’s only Tory MP “Scrooge of the Year” for her implementation of benefit sanctions. Esther McVey is the Tory minister accountable for employment who has overseen the imposition of corrective benefit sanctions on Britain’s worst-off and cuts, which have thrown over a million families into dreadful poverty. Urgently needed benefits were axed because a victim is minutes late for an appointment or other bogus reasons.

Wirral Trades Union Council conducted a survey among local people and trades unionists on who should be named “Scrooge of the Year” and Ms McVey easily topped the poll.

The award was made for her tireless work forcing unwaged people onto zero-hours contracts.

Campaign launched for Esther McVey to be sacked

Wirral TUC say 15,000 leaflets have been distributed across the Wirral West constituencies along with posters which have been placed in shops, houses and pubs. Now car stickers have been produced and a special ‘Sack Esther’ McVey T-shirt is helping to publicise the campaign.

The upshot seems to be that if Southport votes in a Tory, via backing Preston’s Damien Moore, then many folk who are currently living on the breadline may be forced onto the streets! Or does Moore have a more ‘caring’ agenda, when it comes to underprivileged or disabled folks, rather than the unpopular, hard-line, thrash – em -all, one held by the infamous Wirral “Scrooge”?Meanwhile over in Ainsdale, Southport…

Terry where’s that tape recorder?

terry-phoneResidents can also rest assured that they may be ‘secretly taped’ if they can ever find a Southport Tory politician to seek assistance from via their telephone.  Love ’em or Hate em,  Ainsdale residents (the Regans) were certainly NOT afraid to highlight Tory boss, Cllr Terry Jones and his dubious MI5 – style  phone recording activities when they responded to his strange legal threat as follows.

“Your rather emotive tirade indicates that you appear to erroneously believe that our family have some type of inside control over the content of the website in question, a website. This is not so! What appears on such websites has nothing whatsoever to do with us. Therefore, we politely suggest that you take your distasteful threats, suspicions and private grievances to the administrators of that site, once again.

We say ‘once again’ as you will possibly recall that you have taken the trouble to ‘tape’ your previous conversations with individuals running the site and then forwarded them to a third party – yes? Perhaps the questionable legalities of such an action by you are best left for another day?”

Ainsdale’s existing Tory’s are habitually speechless (unless we count silly legal threats); invisible to 99% of the public (most often sunning themselves abroad) and therefore in reality as much use as the proverbial chocolate tea-pot. They cost us Southport taxpayers a fortune and for ‘what’ exactly?

What more can anyone, who has bothered to examine to ongoing political situation in Southport, say?

Serious questions about Cllr Jones and his conduct still remain;

Does Tory chief Cllr Jones secretly tape ALL his conversations with Southport residents or are his questionable actions a little more ‘selective’?

Does he use such covert methods to ‘promote’ his political career, for his private entertainment or for ‘another’ purpose?

Are Southport Conservatives in favour of this type of underhand conduct from their leader?

Will Southport Tories issue a statement about this situation to reassure the public or will they remain silent?

Will other political parties address this situation to ease public distrust?

two

Nevertheless, Cllr Jones seems to be busy at present running Damien Moore’s Facebook page for him.

Southport’s Tories today are basically invisible to the residents unless an election is around the corner. Then it’s all big grins, pub booze-ups and the usual lofty promises on the doorstep. Moreover, the alleged ‘news’ (e.g. old spin) they are pushing into letterboxes etc is easy to discredit at source and simply evidence of how they are now clutching at straws to promote themselves.

Here’s just one small example…

Consequently, it now appears that Damien Moore has chosen to pin his colours to some rather tainted political masts!

How many benefits claimants have to kill themselves before something is done?

Malcolm Burge wrote to his local council last year telling them he was “depressed, stressed and suicidal”. The 66-year-old retired gardener had had his housing benefit cut by 50% but a backlog at Newham council meant he had unknowingly continued to receive the higher amount. The council issued him a demand for £809.79. “I have no savings or assets,” Burge told them in one of several letters asking for help. “I am not trying to live, I am trying to survive.” On 27 June 2014, he drove to Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and set his car on fire.

Esther McVey said ‘I think you’re inflaming this’ when challenged on increasing benefit claimants’ deaths.

Benefit scroungers ‘on the make’ of course want rooting out and exposing; yet targeting so many people (many who are just ordinary struggling families that have fallen on hard times) in such a general and basically cold-hearted way as above smacks of the old fashioned Tory ‘red-coat’ elitism and snob culture.

Consequently, Damien Moore’s obvious self-promotional ploy to link up to Tory top brass to aid his own uninspiring Southport campaign may in fact be counter-productive and appears to be rather ill- considered.

When others bother to examine the sea of multifaceted protests from the UK against McVey they will undoubtedly understand the situation somewhat more clearly!

So we may reasonably ask:  ’does Damien Moore really want to be linked to all THIS?’

“Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?”

Words once said in haste may, as we all know, come back to haunt the more foolish in our society!

And all I can say is ‘humbug’ to all that!
