Sefton Superintendent Dawn McNally said: “Merseyside Police is in no way affiliated with this private enterprise and any plans have been undertaken without consultation with ourselves, Sefton Council or Southport BID.
“We are fully committed to dealing with crime and anti-social behaviour throughout Sefton and do so daily, working alongside Sefton Council, partners, local businesses and members of the community.
“I would strongly encourage anyone wishing to report incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour to speak with your dedicated neighbourhood officers, calls 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. I can assure you that where issues are identified, appropriate action will be taken.”
