The event, organised by Superintendent Louise Harrison and project officer Danielle Hollywood, raised in excess of £2000 for the charity, ahead of their first attempt at the London Marathon in April.

Celebrity baker, Paul Hollywood, tasted cakes from a baker’s dozen of Merseyside Police officers and staff and awarded Amy’s seven layer, almond flavoured sponge opera cake, in the shape of briefcase and notebook, the winner. Describing Amy’s cake as “delicious” and the “standard to be expected from a hotel.”

Amy said: “I can’t believe it, it’s the first time I’ve made this cake! I started about 5pm on Sunday night and went to sleep at quarter to three on Monday morning. I’m overwhelmed and really pleased with Paul’s comments.”

Organiser, Supt Harrison said: “Both Danielle and I have been overwhelmed by the response and support the event received, raising a fantastic £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“We were only able to raise this amount of money with the support of Paul Hollywood, who generously donated his time and expertise to support our event.
