Merseyside Police Enforcement Operations target road safety offences

Merseyside Road Safety Partnership’s Safer Roads Problem Solving Team has been working in partnership with all the Local Authority Road Safety and Licensing Teams on Merseyside. The latest enforcement operations and engagement events have resulted in 320road traffic offences being enforced.

The Road Safety Teams have engaged with over 700 road users across Merseyside by offering road safety advice on various road safety issues such as child car seats, seat belts, mobile phones, excessive speed and information to cyclists.

In addition,180 taxis have been successfully stopped to be checked by the Licensing Teams for taxi licensing offences such as failing to display taxi license badges as required. The taxis checked resulted in 100 taxi licensing offences.

Rebecca Power from Merseyside’s Road Safety Partnership said: “Our Partners are committed to working together to improve road safety, creating safer communities for all our residents and visitors. They are pleased with the work completed so far by the Safer Roads Problem Solving Team.”

Sgt Ian McPhail fromthe Merseyside Road Safety Partnership’s Safer Roads Problem Solving Team added: “The team are looking forward to providing a consistent approach across Merseyside and with its Partners, addressing and reducing the number of Killed and Seriously Injured.”

More enforcement operations are planned throughout the year with the aim of making our roads safer.
