Merseyside benefits fraudster Norman Brennan in Custody

Merseyside Police can confirm 70-year-old Norman Brennan has been brought back to Merseyside.

The Force provided assistance to Sefton Council and The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) with their original investigation into Mr Brennan .

Since the issue of an arrest warrant for Mr Brennan in 2008 the Force has been working with other agencies to locate and affect his arrest

Last month Mr Brennan was arrested in Spain. Extradition proceedings were undertaken and Merseyside Police officers went to Spain.

The officers brought Mr Brennan back to Merseyside on last night (Thursday, 7 November).

Brennan is to appear at Liverpool Crown Court this morning (Friday, 8 November).

The Merseyside benefits fraudster fled the UK for the Costa del Sol 5 years ago and was wanted by the Work and Pensions Dept  .

Norman Brennan admitted embezzling almost £120,000 in false claims.
