Southports Pitch Flood worst in living memory

The Merseyrail Community Stadium pitch was totally flooded last night (Sunday), the worst in living memory.

Southport FC  officials with regret have requested a pitch inspection  via Everton and the Premier League as early as possible on Monday to call off tonight’s prestigious Everton v Manchester United match as there are no prospects of play possible.

Directors Steve Porter and Haydn Preece both stated they had never seen the pitch so saturated and flooded in their memories going back to the 60’s. This is very disappointing but the weather has dictated and the pitch needs several dry days to recover.
