Meet Southport Street Pastors (VIDEO)

Volunteers Street Pastors in Southport are making the streets a safer place to be on a Saturday night. Four Street Pastors were on duty last night in Southport (18th May 2013) giving help to those needing it the most.

They walk around and are there to help vulnerable people. If there are people sat in a doorway or at a bus stop alone for example they sit with them, making sure that they are safe.   The Pastors are Volunteers from churches across Southport.  Each Street Pastor does in excess of 50 hours training and that includes training given by the police, youth workers, paramedics.   They are unpaid volunteers from a variety of churches.

Founded by Les Isaac in London in 2003, the Street Pastor movement has now spread throughout the country.
