More than £7,124 was raised for local charities at this year’s Mayor of Sefton’s Charity Dinner.

The annual event was held at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre, Southport, on Friday (March 1) with more than 250 people attending.

The ball raises money for the Mayor of Sefton’s Charity Appeal and a total of £7,124 was raised on the night.   All money raised goes to the Mayor of Sefton’s Charity Fund, which is annually dispersed throughout the borough to local charities.

This year the charity dinner featured a fantastic Take That tribute act, Beautiful Circus, who wowed the crowds with a great back catalogue of classic songs.

The evening started with a drinks reception followed by a performance from SONG (Southport Operatic New Generation) who performed songs from their latest production, Godspell. Guests then enjoying a three-course meal, further entertainment and a charity auction and raffle.

Cllr Kevin Cluskey, Mayor of Sefton, said: “A lot of time and effort goes into organising the event and I am delighted so many people came and supported it.

“The food, drink, entertainment, location and company were all fantastic and the evening was a resounding success.

“I would personally like to thank everyone who attended and made it such a special occasion, along with the shops, organisations and individuals who donated raffle and auction prizes.   “A fantastic amount of money was raised for many voluntary organisations throughout the borough and it was very much appreciated.

“Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone behind the scenes who made it all happen.”
