Mayor of Sefton starts Knights of St Columba charity ride Southport to Aintree June 23rd, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Mayor of Sefton starts Knights of St Columba charity ride Southport to Aintree The Mayor of Sefton, Maureen Fearn officially started todays Knights of St Columba charity ride from Southport to Aintree. The riders started off from Moor Lane in Ainsdale at about 3:00pm this afternoon (Sunday 23rd June 2013). The Order of the Knights of St Columba recognises that the Church has been engaged in a continuous process of ‘reaching out’ to evangelise and that people have taken this up through their Catholic action, education activities, charitable works and their very presence in all manner of public facing activities. We know that as an Order we have been active in recruitment, Catholic action, spiritual activity and charitable works throughout Britain and sought to promote charity, unity and fraternity in all that we have been involved with. We hope that through this we have contributed in some small way to the Church’s mission to evangelise, perhaps by recruiting, retaining and reclaiming Catholic men and providing a structure within which they have been able to participate in the work of the Lay Apostolate.
