Man robs woman of mobile phone in Southport town centre

Police are trying to trace a man after a woman was robbed at in Southport town centre this morning (Thursday 27th March 2014).

Shortly before 9:00am this morning a man approached a woman and stole her mobile phone in the town centre.

The victim immediately ran to a police officer who was stationed outside MacDonald’s on Eastbank Street and reported the theft.

An investigation got underway. The man who was described as a bag head made off down St Anne Street into Market Street and was captured on CCTV.

A search for the man is currently underway for the thief.

The woman has been left very shaken by what happened,  and to make matters worse she now can’t communicate with her husband who is serving in the army!

As the popularity of smart phones increase so too do the number of offences.
