Man rescued from Southport Marsh (VIDEO) June 26th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Man rescued from Southport Marsh A full scale rescue operation swung into action at 2:00pm this afternoon (Wednesday 26th June 2013) after a man became stuck in mud on Marshland in Marshside, Southport. NorthWest Ambulance Service Paramedic, John Cox talks about the rescue in the video below. Paramedics, fire-fighters, Southport Lifeboat and HMS Coastguard were all called to the rescue. A man aged in his mid 40’s got stuck in mud up to his waist on marshland, about a quarter of a mile away from the nearest road. An officer from the RSPB drove his small van across the marshland in a bid to help rescue the stricken man. The man was rescued from the mud and placed in the rear of the van to be taken to a waiting ambulance on Marshside Road. The van became stuck and was pushed out by the emergency service personnel.
